Delta Force: Black Hawk Down is perfect for anyone who enjoys first-person shooter action.
Delta Force: Black Hawk Down is a popular first-person shooter game produced by NovaLogic. It was originally released in 2003 for Windows and OSX operating systems. This platform is actually the sixth instalment of the popular Delta Force video game series. The plot centres around the events that occurred when a United States Black Hawk helicopter was shot down by Somali rebels in the early part of the 1990s. Thus, many of the weapons and the missions revolve around this overall scenario.
Game Play
The player will first be given command of three other allies. As with many other first-person shooter platforms, the goal is to lead these other members as a team and complete various objectives. The first few missions are primarily concerned with allowing the player to become accustomed to the various weapons that will be used as well as highlighting some military tactics such as ambushes and covert operations.
Enemy Artificial Intelligence and Graphics
As this game was originally created in 2003, the artificial intelligence (AI) exhibited by enemy combatants is not as sophisticated as would be expected in more modern shooter games. However, it is still quite impressive for its time. It should also be noted that the graphics, environments and player details are all seen as being very realistic. Sound effects and an accurate depiction of the weapons are both intricate and while perhaps slightly outdated, any fan of classic first-person shooter games will not be disappointed.
Campaigns
There are several campaigns that take place within the overall plot. Some of these include convoy protection, hostage rescues and the destruction of stockpiles of weapons. In terms of the Microsoft Windows version, there is an expansion set that offers two extra missions.
System Requirements
At just over 132 megabytes, Delta Force: Black Hawk Down may prove taxing on systems that do not have sufficient memory. It is currently compatible with Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. The Direct X 9.0 video codec is recommended for smooth game play.
